Wall storage comes in different forms, including the increasingly popular open-storage style with simple chunky floating shelves.

Contemporary kitchens are all about sleek clean lines and the selective use of minimalism to accent the other textures and colours within the room. Therefore wall cabinets in this genre are designed to echo that ethos, to remain minimal in appearance, but of course ultimate in storage and practicality.

Two main types of contemporary wall units, plus open shelving examples are shown here.

Bi-Folding Lift-ups
Gas-strut-assisted bi-folding doors can be left open while cooking without getting in the way.

These over-hang the cabinet carcass to offer great grip and easy opening.

Open Shelving
Matt, gloss, MFC, real wood. These specially made floating shelves can be used as main or secondary wall storage.
